![]() ![]() ![]() The Diablo 4 team has tried to be exceedingly clear that its microtransactions, including a seasonal battle pass, would include nothing but cosmetics. Sure, the black market may rise again (and it was never fully eliminated from Diablo 3 anyway), but at least that major misstep won’t be repeated. No Auction House, nor anything close to it. There’s nothing like that happening this time around in Diablo 4. At a certain point as a player, you sort of just had to ignore it completely and act like it didn’t exist if you didn’t want to drive yourself crazy believing your farming was inefficient compared to just snagging something on the Auction House. Maybe not the most egregious microtransaction scheme, but something that did the most active harm to its own game. I genuinely think it may have been one of the most actively harmful ideas in gaming history. ![]() I remember when Reaper of Souls launched, while the new content was exciting in and of itself, the singular thing that felt the best was the removal of the Auction House at the same time. ![]()
